Can I just cut-and-paste a SimSkin?

I tried to replace a Two-Face skin for Sims by starting with the Clark Kent skin, recolouring and detailing (checks on suit that is) half of it, and then renaming to replace the file I didn't want, but it won't work - it just shows as a white glow and I can't select it.

AM I totally off the beam? I mean, am I totally doing the wrong thing? Will someone who isn't completely gormless help me out?

Do I use costume shop???

Im desperate...

I tried making a skin for Rin from Inuyasha and i wrecked three of my best sim heads and two bodies trying. I also don't have anything to alter the outside shape. Can someone help me make one?

Also...if anyone knows where to get one...even better!

This might not have to do with skinning, but with a crapload of skins I downloaded. The head skin is only one sided, and doesn't come out right on the Sims. How do I fix this?

Skinning Programs?? (Beginner's Question)

I'm interested starting to make my own skins, but i have no idea where to start . I dont even know what programs are used to make them. (i feel like a noob <.< ) so if anyone would be kind enough to tell me what programs there are and maybe where i can go to learn the basics id be very grateful.

I'll start off by saying I don't have any experience in skinning. I can do fine making the artistic side of the skin with my paint program, but when it comes to the .skn and .cmx files, I'm completely clueless.

Anyway, I have these two skins I am in love with. They're cat skins for Sims 1. They are made to resemble Edward and Alphonse Elric from the anime Fullmetal Alchemist. The site I got them from apparently no longer exists, and was in Japanese.

How do I reassign vertices from one joint to another?

If I select the vertices and then click on the head joint in the joints list, it deselects the vertices that are already assigned to another joint.

Does anyone know of any good (and by good, I mean "for dummies") tutorials on making head meshes? I'm handling the bodies okay, but the heads confuse me, and I'm trying to get the mesh just right for Sophia from "Last Exile".

Okay, I have milkshape and I'm hacking my way through it. I've been through at least a dozen tutorials, but for some reason stuff just isn't sinking in. So here's a few questions I have and if anyone can help me (or point me in the direction of someone who can) I shall worship them eternally:

1) If a mesh shows up a dull pink color in Simshow, what the heck did I do wrong?

2) How do I make objects to...

i went around and downloaded a bunch of new skins, and when i scroll over the women's heads, my game shuts down! i've tried to uninstall the sims, but the skins are still there. what can i do? i'm quite computer-illiterate, so i'm afraid to start deleting files. i recall one of my friends downloading this system that cleans out any bad sim's files, is this true? i am desperate. please help me!!!

Alrite, I am making a certain skin where the character will have a "different" skin color. Anyways, I ahve made hand skins for him, however they do not show up, I have them named right. They show up as light colored hands, not the skin I made. Anyone know why/how to fix this?

Okay, I am a complete skinning virgin. My first attempt came out nice, so now I want to make more (my God, it's like crack...) but I need a website. I can handle that part, but here's what I keep wondering (I'm also techno virgin, by the way) what people use to get those nice sims shots on their websites. Is there a specific program?

...if anyone could make or point me in the direction of a site that has one or more of the following:

A katana that in in the sims' left or right hand.
A sniper type rifle (either on back or in hand.
A paper bag that works like a mask.
And a mechanical arm that just covers up a normal male arm.

If anyone could help me, I'd appreciate it and send you the final product.

i am working on a mesh for a head that involves multipule parts that go with it. the problem is that after the mesh was altered the skin for that part of the mesh now appears in a gray color with a "X" arcoss it.
