History:

Farris' great-grandfather was a merchant pilot who was attacked by space pirates. After being marooned on an asteroid, the man discoved the Quarvat, an imensely powerful device that enabled him to defeat the pirates. Learning that his forefather had been a hero named Starman, this future Knight adopted the name. He passed the role to his son to his daughter and then to Farris (Starman #1,000,000, November 1998) .

Farris took the role releuctantly. While he despised the mantle of Starman, he quickly came accustomed to the life of fame and women (Starman #1,000,000, November 1998) .

Alongside his allies in the Justice Legion A, Farris journeyed back in time to the late 20th century. They arrived at the JLA's Watchtower on the moon (JLA #24, November 1998). The 20th century JLA was reluctant to believe the Legion's claims, but after running them through a series of tests, were willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. The team explained to the JLA that in their time period, Superman was about to return from a long exile in his solar fortress. In honor of the Prime Superman's return, the Legion was organizing a solar system wide celebration. They asked the JLA to come forward to the year 85,271 to participate in a series of celebratory exhibits. The team eventually agreed. Starman took the responsibility of preparing Green Lantern, who was to journey to his citadel in orbit of Uranus. Hourman then used the Worlogog to transport the JLA into the future. When he tried to bring them back, his programing was suddenly overwhelmed by a computer virus, causing a cloud of spores to errupt from him, engulphing the Legion (DC One Million #1, November 1998).

Shortly after, the Justice Legion A journeyed to Montevideo to help with rescue efforts. There they clashed with Firestorm and the Ray, who believed that the Legion was behind the devestation. Martian Manhunter and Blue Beetle arrived to quell the tensions. It was also at that point that the Earth learned that Vandal Savage had been behind the attack (DC One Million #2, November 1998).

Farris arrived at Ted Knight's observatory to find his forefather under attack by the assasian Deathbolt. After the two Starmen easily turned back their foe, Farris revealled his lineage to Ted. He then asked Ted to give him a radioactive ore that Ted had found years earlier, Ted surrendered the ore to Farris, but the old man's kindness affected Farris' concience. Farris admited to Ted that he was a traitor and that he planned to help Solaris kill Superman with the ore. He lashed out at TEd, but found he was unable to kill the old man. Instead, Farris left with the ore (Starman #1,000,000, November 1998) .

While the Justice Legion and remaining JLAers laboured to complete Solaris, Batman 1,000,000 interrogated Starman. Farris admitted that the Knight Fragment was Kryptonite, that Solaris had instructed him to hide under the sands of Mars. In the year 85,271, Solaris would unearth the kryptonite and use it to kill Superman Prime when he emrged. Farris also confessed that he knew that he was wrong. Believing that the good in Farris would outweigh the evil, Batman returned his Qarvat. Starman used it to ignite Solaris, who then absorbed the Hourman virus. As the second sun gained awareness, Starman used the Qarvat to create a singuliarity in Solaris' mind. It caused a black hole that threw Solaris across the universe. In the process, Starman lost the Qarvat. Lost in space, Farris activated the mercy destruct in his suit, ending his life (DC One Million #3, November 1998).
