History:

Major Glenn Talbot was assigned by request of General Ross to the Southwest Missile Installation as Chief of Security. At Ross’ request he began an intense investigation of Bruce Banner as Ross suspected his chief scientist was a spy and traitor. Talbot agreed with him and when he arrived to take his position, he began the investigation in earnest. While surveying the surrounding area of the base, he found Banner and landed to talk to him but was attacked by the stolen exo-shell and Hulk. After the battle he found the Hulk unconscious and managed to capture him. (Tales to Astonish #61 Nov. 1964)

Major Talbot was ordered to accompany Bruce Banner on a train transporting a vital new nuclear device. Talbot was keeping an eye on Banner when a robot controlled by The Leader attacked the train. The robot cut-loose Talbot’s train car and he lost sight of the rest of the train and device until they eventually caught up to it. There he found Bruce Banner in rags next to the device. He immediately arrested Banner for defying his orders to stay in the train car during the fight. (Tales to Astonish #63 Jan. 1965)

Feeling that with Banner out of the way, that Betty Ross would be his for the taking, Talbot was enraged to hear that Banner had been ordered released by the Pentagon and took him with him to Astra Island to complete tests on Banner’s nuclear device. There in the lab, Talbot confronted Banner about his connection to the Hulk. During the exchange, though, Banner fled the building. Talbot followed him but lost sight of the scientist once he went outside. (Tales to Astonish #64 Feb. 1965)

Talbot received word that Bruce Banner had been seen aboard a communist submarine shortly after an attack on Astra Island by the Hulk. Talbot considered this proof that Banner was a spy and possibly had defected. (Tales to Astonish #65 Mar. 1965)

Talbot’s superior received a message saying that Mongolian bandits claimed to have Banner and were offering an exchange for a hefty ransom. Still believing Banner to be a traitor, Talbot left for Mongolia to facilitate the exchange. When he found Banner, they tried to escape when the bandit camp was attacked. Unfortunately on a mountainside, they fell off a cliff that collapsed. (Tales to Astonish #67 May. 1965)

Rendered unconscious during the fall, Talbot was saved by The Hulk. Hulk left him at the bottom of the ravine and returned to the US. When Talbot eventually returned to the US himself, he found that Banner had finally been arrested for treason. But he was summoned to a meeting with the President in Washington and was ordered to release Banner and continue the tests on the Absorbatron on Astra Isle. There, on the island, the mentally controlled robots of The Leader attacked Banner and Talbot. Talbot was quickly beaten. (Tales to Astonish #68 June 1965)

Waking after the attack on Astra Isle, Talbot felt justified in his beliefs that Banner was a traitor when he learned the Absorbatron and Banner were both gone. After reporting to General Ross they issued an order to shoot Banner on sight. Talbot and General Ross detected radio signals from Bruce Banner that led them to the Leader’s secret base in the dessert. There they found the wreckage of the Leader’s base and caught a glimpse of the Hulk. They then found Banner unconscious and without a heartbeat. (Tales to Astonish #69, Jul. 1965)

After Banner's body went missing from the secret base, Glen returned to the Southwest Missile Complex to inform Betty Ross of Banner’s apparent death and that he had indeed been a traitor. But his meeting with her was interrupted when the base came under attack from a large nearly indestructible humanoid. (Tales to Astonish vol.1 #70 Aug. 1965)

Talbot spotted the hulk escaping after the military attacked the humanoid with a clean nuclear missile. He and a force from the base followed the monster and eventually cornered him in a cave. There they threatened to attack him with more nuclear bombs. (Tales to Astonish vol.1 #71 Sep. 1965)

They saw Rick Jones escape from the cave and then shelled the cave as much as they could. When they found no trace of hulk there, Talbot began to make a connection between Banner, Hulk and Jones. He had the MPs take Rick Jones into custody. (Tales to Astonish vol.1 #72 Oct. 1965)
